A teenager is today fighting for his life in hospital after an accident on the A38 yesterday.

The 18-year-old was the driver of a green Ford Fiesta which left the road and collided with a tree.

His 18-year-old female passenger from the Liskeard area is in a stable condition in hospital with head and shoulder injuries.

The single-vehicle collision happened at around 1.30pm on the Moorswater on slip to the A38 westbound at Liskeard.

Both casualties were taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital. 

The driver’s injuries are described by police as ‘life threatening head and chest injuries’, and he is in the intensive care unit.

A full forensic examination took place at the scene with the on slip being closed for several hours.

Police from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101 quoting log number 431 of June 17.
