A man has died following yesterday’s collision on the A38 at Tideford.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was the driver of one of the three vehicles involved, police said this morning.

Emergency services were called at around 4.50pm to the incident involving an articulated HGV, a BMW and a Vauxhall.

The driver of the BMW is the man who has died. Police say his next of kin have been informed, though formal identification is yet to take place.

The drivers of the other vehicles were taken to Derriford hospital by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries.

Firefighters from Liskeard, Saltash and Bodmin were at the scene and used crash rescue equipment to free a trapped casualty.

The road was closed for seven hours while emergency services investigated, causing widespread traffic chaos and long delays..
