OLIVER Smart is celebrating after claiming gold and silver medals for Great Britain at the European Biathle Championships and World Cup Tour in Setubal, Portugal.

The 11-year-old Plymouth College Preparatory School pupil from Millbrook, in south east Cornwall, who is set to start at Plymouth College's senior school, was one of the youngest competitors in the continuous run/swim/run event.

He won a silver medal in the individual 'Youth D' category and gold in the team event, after taking on an 18-strong field from countries including Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal and Russia.
