Cornwall’s top badminton players began the new season with a long trip to Cheltenham, where the first centralised matches in Badminton England’s new format were held.
Each county team plays their regional counterparts once over three weekends, with matches being the best of 11 games and Cornwall’s first team took on Wiltshire and Dorset in the new Division 3 at the weekend.
The match against Wiltshire ended in a 7-4 victory to the young Cornish team, but the next match versus Dorset turned out to be much the harder with the final score being 7-4 to Dorset.
The next set of matches again takes place in Cheltenham, on December 12, when Cornwall first team take on Jersey and Oxfordshire.
