Individuals and teams from the Looe Rifle and Pistol Club ended the competition season with a bumper haul of silverware. Finals were shot over a five-week period at the Bodmin Rifle Club – the headquarters for the Horseshoe League, which runs contests between Bodmin, Liskeard, Polperro and Looe. In the Douglas Marshal Cup, Looe's A and B teams met in the final and, despite good A team scores of 97 and 96 out of 100 from Pete Ivey and Nick Timperley, it was the B team who triumphed 358-355 on points (400.6-399.4 on adjusted handicap scoring), with newcomer Gareth Bawden bagging a personal best of 89 in his first match, backed up by 88 from Roy Hayward and 97 from Stuart Williams. Meanwhile, four Looe individuals reached three different solo finals. In the five-card individual competition, shot over several rounds on a drop-out table basis, Timperley reached the final at his first attempt and ended up in third place following a 96.
