South East Cornwall’s new national golf champion Sammie Giles will lead England’s bid to retain the Women’s Home Internationals title in Wales next week, writes Ross Reid.

The 21-year-old St Mellion star from Saltash completed a unique treble when she claimed the Women’s Amateur title in Lancashire.

Fresh from that triumph – her third national title in two years – Giles is the only South West player to earn an England Golf call-up for next week’s annual home international series at Conwy Golf Club in North Wales from Wednesday August 3-Friday August 5.
