St Mellion Golf Resort is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with a series of events, starting with An Audience with the 85-year-old ‘Voice of Golf’ Peter Alliss on April 29.

A special pro-am is being held over the famous Nicklaus Course on July 12.

Many golfing superstars have graced the course during the Benson&Hedges tournaments between 1990 and 1995 played over the first golf course built by the legendary Jack Nicklaus in Europe. Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Paul Broadhurst and Jose Maria Olazabal were among the winners and Paul Casey beat Simon Dyson to become English Amateur champion in 1999.

St Mellion was the brainchild of the Bond brothers to utilise their farmland; Hermon died in 1999 and Martin died recently.
