ST MELLION'S David Brockbank and Alvin Edney travelled to Filton Golf Club in Bristol to take part in the Regional Final of the Marie Curie Classic.

Original team member Mike Whitehouse unfortunately had to step aside from the pairs competition after a sterling performance in the St Mellion round.

Played on a pleasant parkland course, the two Fossils recorded a total of 33 points in the betterball event to finish second, three points behind the winning pair of Krishnan Pillai and Cyril Davies, from Lilley Brook Golf Club in Cheltenham.
