The outstanding tie of the Cornwall Senior Cup quarter-finals on Saturday between holders Saltash United and previous multiple winners Bodmin Town is almost certain to be postponed.

There will be a 10am pitch inspection by referee Shaun Edge but prospects are not good.

The Kimberley Stadium pitch was badly cut up by the end of last Saturday’s East Cornwall Premier League game against Launceston and has not recovered.

A Saltash spokesman told the Cornish Times the cup tie was in ‘extreme doubt’ due to the downpours during last weekend’s second team game.

The new date for the quarter-final is likely to be Saturday week, February 9.

The teams have yet to play each other in the South West Peninsula League.

They are due to meet at Kimberley in a fortnight, Saturday, February 16, with the corresponding fixture at Priory Park on Saturday, April 6.
