Saltash United manager Matt Cusack has revealed that he ’read the riot act’ during the half-time break in Saturday’s Cornwall Senior Cup tie at Illogan RBL.
The Ashes, riding high in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division, found themselves 3-0 down after 15 minutes at the struggling division one west side in the first round tie.
They did pull a goal back before the break but Cusack told the Cornish Times: ’I read the riot act at half-time. It was bad cop, bad cop between me and my assistant Dane (Bunney). Things needed to be said.’
Saltash were much improved in the second half but it still took them until two minutes before the end of normal time to force an equaliser which sent the tie into extra time, and then a penalty shoot-out, which the Ashes won 4-3.
