MARC Smerdon was the first East Cornwall Harrier home in the Tywardeath Trotter Multi Terrain Race last weekend.

He was fourth in the tough hilly seven mile race, of which half is off road, in a time of 42.34. Next was Ian Littlewood in 50.28 and third Harrier Sharon Daw in 53.01, giving her first spot in her age group.

Marcus Wills had a fine run to finish in 57.28 just head of 2nd lady Harrier Louise Littlewood. Craig Vaughnley completed the course in 1.03.02, Emma Handley in 1.07.32 abd Steve Beazley completed his run in 1.13 .33.

Next Harrier was Lyndsey Saunders in 1.18.36, followed bt Lindsey Taphouse in 1.19.16. Amy Williams, who was well on her way to a personal best in this race, had a bad fall which prevented her from finishing.

After the race was the presentation of the prizes and the prize giving for the 201-2016 race series. East Cornwall Harriers received the awards for being the first ladies team and third men’s team.

Many Harriers received individual awards for their success during the series, including Marc Smerdon , Ian Littlewood , Sharon Daw , Amy Williams, Ann Quarmby, Louise littlewood and Revis Crowle.
