SALTASH need a maximum of 25 points from their final three games to be crowned Division Three East champions after thrashing Roche Seconds by seven wickets at Chapel Field on Saturday.

The Ashes restricted their visitors to just 188 all out with Darshan Sathish continuing his fine form with 5-39, while Matt Petherbridge weighed in with 2-41.

A 100-run stand for the second wicket between Jonny Wastell (39) and Sam Renfree – the latter smashing an unbeaten 91 from just 70 balls – was the catalyst in the chase.

Boconnoc kept their slim survival hopes alive by thrashing bottom side Ladock by 92 runs at Deer Park.

Thirties from Mike Blake (36) and John Niblett (34) set the platform to allow Rob Foot to whack 83 not out from 66 deliveries in a hefty 266-5, helped by contributions from Ryan Greenslade (28) and skipper Ian Hunter (37no).

In reply, the visitors mustered 174-8 as the spin trio of Greenslade (0-17), Lee Penrose (1-7) and Gary Spencer (3-29) proved tough to get away. However, they still have to make up 26 points on third bottom Roche.

Mid-table Duloe’s struggles continue as St Minver left with a four-wicket win.

Half centuries from Thomas Turpin (50) and Matt Julian (59) saw the hosts reach 219-8 - and whilst St Minver slipped from 114-0 to 148-6 as William Turpin (2-33) and Sam Conway (3-36) shared five, the visitors got home with a ball to spare.

In Division Four East, St Neot fell off top spot after losing by 28 runs at new leaders Wadebridge Thirds.

Chris Simpson (2-46) and David Brice (2-50) shared four in Wadebridge’s 241-7, which proved more than enough despite fifties from Simpson (51) and Spencer Ham (56no).

Liskeard are within eight of St Neot in third after a 133-run success at Callington Thirds.

Skipper Andrew Cobb’s 97 was the catalyst to their 274-9 which was added to by forties from Ben Powell (41) and Harrington Woodhead (43). Chris Bennett’s 2-26 was the best of the figures.

Brijesh Desai (3-38) and Tony Walton (2-19) helped keep the hosts to just 141 all out, 36 coming from Daniel Skews.

Tideford recorded a first win of the season over relegation-threatened St Stephen.

Opener Glynn Triscott batted through for an unbeaten 84 in the chase of 152 after fine spells from Jake Kitt (4-24), Dan Robotham (3-24) and Dave Lockett (2-32).

A 98-run success over their Holsworthy counterparts has ensured Lanhydrock Seconds are all but up from Division Five.

Jamie Taylor (47) and David Rabone (50) helped them reach 224-9 before Brian Barnicoat’s 4-24 restricted the Devonians to 124-9.

They are just six points behind leaders Buckland Monachorum who won by 28 runs at all but relegated Luckett twos, while fine spells from Graham Murray (5-22) and Dinesh Thirupuvanarajah (3-19) saw Gunnislake defend 145 in a 32-run success at Launceston Seconds. Earlier, Dan Pethick made 54.

Pencarrow eased to a 53-run success at Newquay Thirds led by Jack Carter’s unbeaten 61 in a total of 215-6. He then took 4-42 alongside Tristan Jago’s 3-33.

Fourth-placed Menheniot-Looe Seconds lost by three wickets to visiting Bugle.

Half centuries from Justin Kidd (60no) and skipper Marc Wright took the hosts to 227-5, but Paul Gribble’s unbeaten 77 guided the Clay Country outfit over the line.
