THE Saltash United management team of Kevin Hendy and Stuart Dudley took a calculated risk for this trip to Bickland Park, making five changes from the side that went down 5-3 to Falmouth Town in the Throgmorton Cup at Kimberley just five days earlier.

Their change of personal and tactics certainly worked, as the 2-0 final scoreline did not come close to reflecting the depth of this victory over one of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League's form teams.

Said Dudley: 'We decided we were not going to sit back and let them come at us, but instead we were going to go at them and, to be fair, they didn't know how to deal with us.

'We called the players in for a training session on the Thursday night and tried a few things out, and it was good to see it all come together during this game.'

The only disappointment of the afternoon was a 75th-minute injury to right-winger Luke Doddridge, who came off worse in a 50-50 challenge with Town goalkeeper Jason Chapman.
