YOUNGSTERS in St Cleer are appealing to their community to get behind the efforts for a new play park in the village. The St Cleer Community Group has been fundraising hard for the past year and has amassed more than £7,000. But the group, which has just four dedicated members, says it needs to bring in a further £5,000 in order to unlock a major grant from Viridor Credits. Children in the village have been without a play area for several months since the old equipment was removed. Fundraiser Suzanne Horsfield said that the group had staged an event pretty much every weekend for a year – and that the lack of involvement from the wider village was ‘a bit disheartening’.
