A NEW announcement that yet more roadworks are planned for the A38 in the coming months has been made by Highways England.

A traffic order will come into effect on September 18, covering the section of the trunk road between the Trerulefoot and Carkeel Roundabouts.

The order has been put into place to enable resurfacing and drainage work to be carried out, as well as signage and safety fencing upgrades, road marking, and the installation of studding, electrics and utilities. Traffic management in place during the works could include a speed limit of 30mph between Trerulefoot and Tideford, overnight speed limits of 10mph at times of convoy work on the entire stretch of the road, and overnight closures between Trerulefoot and Tideford, with a diversion in place.

While the work is scheduled to be carried out in the period of September 21 to April 2, a Highways England spokesperson said that, in reality, the project could be completed within a much shorter timeframe. The spokes-person added that more details about the expected duration of the scheme would be available once a schedule had been developed by contractors. The announcement follows the news last week that major roadworks are scheduled to take place for around two months between Liskeard and Trerulefoot, from the end of November.Drivers who use the A38 regularly have already experienced many months of delays as improvements to the Carkeel Roundabout have been carried out – and a second phase of works is planned at the busy roundabout to start this winter.
