Cornwall’s internationally renowned lutenist Ben Salfield returns to the county with a series of dates in March, concluding on Sunday, March 25 with a special programme at Cornwall’s Regimental Museum in Bodmin.
He regularly performs and gives masterclasses at venues and festivals across the continent.
‘I will play music by three composers,’ said Ben.
‘First, by the Spaniard Luis de Milán, published in 1536; then some music from the early 1600s by the greatest English composer of his day, John Dowland. The second half will feature sonatas and stand-alone pieces by the amazing baroque composer Silvius Leopold Weiss, that were written in the first half of the 18th century.’
He’ll play on the unique 10-course lutar, the only one in the world.
