People in South East Cornwall have been warned to be prepared as another band of wind and heavy rain heads for the area tonight.

Bad weather is expected to sweep across Cornwall during the night, and the Government’s Flood Information Service has issued yellow ’be prepared’ flood alerts for the River Lynher, the length of the River Tamar, all North Cornwall rivers and the St Austell and Par rivers.

The Met Office said: ’A band of heavy rainfall is forecast throughout Sunday night into Monday morning.

’The rain is likely to be persistent with localised heavy showers possible.

’Catchments are already saturated following heavy rainfall overnight on Saturday and rivers are expected to rise in response to this rainfall.

’We are continuing to monitor the situation and will update this information as the situation changes.’

Police have said drivers should be prepared for bad conditions in the morning and leave more time for their commutes.
