Unusual visitors to Siblyback Lake, near St Cleer, may have been blown off their winter course by hurricanes, says the South West Lakes Trust countryside warden.
While the lakeside is home to a wide variety of bird life, buff-breasted and pectoral sandpipers are rarely seen in this area, says Nigel Tomkinson.
‘We are very excited to have these rare birds at Siblyback,’ he said. ‘It is thought that they may have been blown off course by the recent hurricanes whilst migrating south from North America.’
