A VIRTUAL ’jobs hour’ from the National Careers Service (NCS) will promote local job, apprenticeship and volunteering opportunities.

NCS is working to bring job seekers and employers closer together by advertising vacancies across social media.

Visiting nine different regions of England throughout the week of 20 – 24 July, the online event will give employers in those regions a chance to advertise current opportunities.

It’s easy to find these vacancies says NCS: people can simply search for #JobsHour on Twitter or follow the National Careers Service social media channels to find vacancies in their area.

In Devon and Cornwall, the virtual jobs fair will run tomorrow (Monday 20th July) from 11am-12pm as an Event on the regional Facebook page and on the regional Twitter channel.

Employers are invited to help bring the Virtual Jobs Fair to life by getting involved in online discussions and encouraging job seekers to ask questions about their opportunities.

The National Careers Service will also provide free personalised careers information, advice and guidance for anyone wanting advice on vacancies, next steps or finding a role that is right for them. This includes an ‘Employability Skills’ Facebook Live event on Wednesday, focusing on reviewing and building up skills with reference to available resources such as The Skills Toolkit.

Mark Ferries, a National Careers Service adviser said: 'This is our third Virtual Jobs Fair now in as many months, which is a real sign of how popular they have been and a credit to the fantastic work of everyone involved. This time round, we’ve focussed on engagement from employers and the response has been exceptional. Being able to connect so many organisations directly with job seekers is at the heart of what theses fairs are about. 'We’re also really excited to have an added focus on skills development, with both our workshop and involvement from a range of training providers, meaning we can reach and support more people than ever.'
