A VILLAGE could once again have its own shop as determined fund-raisers get to work.
At St Keyne, the village hall and social club is thriving, say Patricia Hopwood and Sally Bevan.
Events from children’s parties to concerts and regular activities for all age groups keep the spacious hall busy. But residents, particularly the elderly, desperately want a small shop, says Patricia.
At present, the nearest facilities are the community shop in Duloe, two miles away, or the town centre shops of Liskeard.
Now a small but committed team has formed to make St Keyne’s community shop project a reality.
The volunteers hope to open a shop within the village hall by Easter 2018.
A family Halloween Party (October 28) and a jewellery making workshop (November 12) are planned, and the team hopes that a village Christmas Advent Calendar will bring in more cash.
Locals are being offered a door on the calendar, with the chance to win some prizes.
