CALLINGTON'S 'art celebrity' Anthea Lay unties the ribbon to officially open the town's Heritage Centre for the new season

Anthea, who recently took part in the BBC's Big Painting Challenge, was the guest at the ceremony on Good Friday.

The centre has a new exhibition, 'Then and Now,' which features many photographs from the Gimblett Collection highlighting personalities, places and events from Callington and the surrounding parishes.

Also on display are many interesting and unusual items donated by local people which have never before been made public.

Providing the backdrop, as always at the centre, is the archive of the mines, railway and geology around the Callington district.

The centre is in the converted former chapel in Liskeard Road and is open every Friday from 10am-4pm and the first Saturday of every month but additional days are set to be added soon.
