Car parking

CHARGES in Torpoint's car parks will not be increased in the short term, town councillors have been told.

The news was given by district councillor John Crago who was reporting on Caradon's review of car parking charges. He also confirmed that Caradon will be looking at selling or leasing car parks to parish and town councils.

Fellow district councillor John Chadwick told the town council that there will not be any charges imposed at the car parks at Freathy and Tregantle. Fears had been expressed that the introduction of charges in these coastal car parks would deter motorists from using them.

Library romance

ROMANCE will be in the air at Torpoint Library next week.

Staff at the library in the town centre will be marking St Valentine's Day on Wednesday (February 14) by promoting romantic literature.

"We are hoping to give away roses and heart-shaped biscuits," said library manager Kate Wilton.

"And we will be trying to encourage people to put a bit of romance into their lives by taking out a Mills & Boon book or other types of romantic novel."

A REQUEST for Caradon District Council to provide a public toilet sign at Defiance Field has been made by Torpoint Town Council.

Artist of the month

THE artist of the month for February at Torpoint Library is Iris Williams who lives in the town. She is showing watercolours of local landscapes.
