BAKING company Ginsters has been presented with a special award which shows their high standards in work experience. The Callington firm has been given the Department for Education and Skills Platinum Providers Award in recognition of the one week placement schemes Ginsters operates. Nicky Taylor, training and communications manager at the firm said: 'We are delighted to receive this award which recognises the commitment Ginsters has to supporting and encouraging students from local schools.' The company's work experience programme is designed to give students a real insight into the working environment. The programmes begin with an application and interview for positions available within the company. Students that are successful work closely with staff that have been trained to deliver effective work experience programmes, before delivering a final presentation to senior management and teachers at the end of the week. Tom Hickie, manager at Cornwall education business partnership, which works throughout Cornwall to link businesses and schools, said: 'Ginsters is one of the leading companies in terms of providing work experience placements and the Platinum Provider Award is given in recognition of their quality approach and high standards of preparation and support for the students.'
