THOUSANDS of festival fans will be in Looe this weekend for the port's fourth musical extravaganza. The Looe Music Festival, which kicks off this afternoon, is now the second largest in Cornwall and boasts a main stage on the beach, plus five more around the town, with further entertainment in other venues. Ninety acts, including tonight's headliners, The Brand New Heavies, are set to play in the town. Saturday night's headliners are Squeeze and on Sunday it will be Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls. Tickets are required for the main stages to see the top acts but there is free musical entertainment elsewhere. The original idea of the festival was to help lengthen the tourism season in Looe. Manager of Looe Tourist Information Centre Mark Camp said: 'As far as I know the accommodation providers in the town are all full. It looks like it is going to be a great weekend. With the good weather, I think financially Looe has been busier in September so far than in July.'
