Theft didn't spoil couple's wedding day

Despite thieves stealing a ring which was to be a vital part of their wedding ceremony Tony and Sue Walsh still celebrated a day to remember when they married at Saltash register office on Monday.

Thieves had taken the ring - which Tony had bought for Sue when the couple initially met 23 years previously - as part of a number of items of jewellery stolen from the couple's home at Wilcove last week.

But, although upset by the loss, Tony and Sue were determined not to let it spoil their big day.

The couple, who never got around to marrying until now, decided to use another ring.

Sue said they chose one given to her by her mother-in-law, and will buy another at a later date.

The thieves also took, as part of their haul, six rolls of camera film which was to be part of a Wilcove Millennium project being put together by local people, a gold lady's Rolex watch and a platinum diamond solitaire ring, as well as other jewellery items.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the break-in, which took place on May 28.

Entry was gained after the thieves broke a back window of the house.

Anyone with information about the break-in should contact Liskeard police by ringing 0990 777 444.
