I have always been one for nostalgia and when I last went into Liskeard town centre I was absolutely delighted to see that an old-fashioned sweet shop has commenced trading. I have always loved sweets and despite my somewhat advanced years, I love the old favourites sold in jars, which are so hard to get as everything now is pre-packed. Upon entering I was thrilled to see all my old favourites and I was totally spoilt for choice for the range is considerable and the prices very fair. I was informed by the gentleman who owns the shop that all his confectionary comes from local sources, thus giving much-needed support to local manufacturers, which is also very important to me. He will also endeavour to obtain sweets that customers like, if he does not already stock them. Many are probably wondering what I am making such a fuss about, that a sweet is a sweet, but I have always loved them and I am sure I am not alone. Seeing this shop suddenly spring up certainly made my day and will make many more to come. It is situated on the left-hand side as you come from Liskeard Station and has that wonderful 'olde worlde' atmosphere. I would like to wish the gentleman who served me the very best for his new enterprise and I really hope it takes off and proves to be very profitable. He has at least one very regular customer in me and I hope his shop will attract many more besides.
