PREMIER DIVISION
Looe 5
St Mawgan 0
Looe returned to something like their previous form following their dis-
mal Cup display against Polperro the previous week.
Buoyed by the return of Rich Rendell in goal, along with Wes Garaghon to the heart of the defence, Looe began at a brisk pace and soon took the lead.
Matt Barton, struggling with a hamstring injury, crossed and midfield dynamo Danny Carroll slotted in a lovely left-footed shot.
Soon after it was Carroll again who went close before Eric Sutherland slipped past two defenders and scored off the post.
The home side soon went further ahead through Mitch McMillan, who cannot stop scoring at the moment. Unfortunately, a recurrence of his ankle injury left Carroll unable to continue, and he was replaced by youngster Jon Hill.
Veteran Matt Rollings turned the clock back with a fine display, replacing Carroll in centre midfield, and the hosts continued to dominate.
Soon after the break, Matt Barton ended his recent goal-drought to score the fourth, and Sutherland almost shattered the woodwork with a 30-yard missile, before notching his second goal to put Looe five ahead.
At the back, Kevin Southern worked well along with Matt Perrot, McMillan and the inspirational Garaghon.
In midfield, as well as Sutherland and Rollings, there were good performances from Nick Southern and Alec Cannon, while Barton battled well up front.
Young Jon Hill worked hard throughout and showed he has the temperament and ability to succeed in the higher division.
