Strong, lively batting by the Bude side was the differentiator in this first game of the season for a tender Callington side.

North Cornwall (17 pts) beat Callington (three pts) by seven wickets.

Newquay v Looe

On Sunday Newquay entertained a revitalised Looe side in an U-14 clash. A spirited performance with regard to ground fielding resulted in Newquay managing 138-2 with Ben Steward scoring a fine 54 not out.

However, a lapse in catching was apparent (which is a disease currently running throughout the club!) and therefore Newquay were able to bat in a carefree manner. Looe batting showed determination, but the catching of the Newquay side proved the saying "Catches win matches!" Looe coaches will no doubt be concentrating hard on this aspect in the forthcoming weeks with all Looe teams!
