Dobwalls U-15s entertained St Stephens recording a 5-0 victory to keep their unbeaten run going. The conditions on the day were absolutely awful with a very strong wind blowing down the pitch.
Dobwalls had the advantage of the wind in the first half and made the most of it scoring four of their five goals in that period. The first goal came from Adam Billing who headed in from close range. Dobwalls kept St Stephens pinned in their own half, playing some good controlled football and they went further ahead when a fierce strike from 30yds by Alex Lindsay, helped by the wind, flew in.
St Stephens defended hard but were unable to get out of their own half. Dobwalls third goal came after they were awarded a free kick about 40yds out, Jamie Robins stepped up and curled a superb shot into the top left hand corner. Dobwalls continued to press on and they scored goal number four after some good build up play. The ball was crossed in from the right and Alex Lindsay arrived in the box to volley in from six yds. Dobwalls had to take a good lead into the second half as the wind was causing havoc and seemed to be getting stronger.
St Stephens assisted by the wind piled on the pressure in the second half but Dobwalls defended stoutly and restricted them to few chances. Dobwalls however still had their moments breaking quickly and creating a few chances. With time running out and the light fading Dobwalls broke away and increased their lead with a goal from top scorer Mike Ruark.
This was a very difficult game in the conditions and both teams played very well but Dobwalls thoroughly deserved the three points to keep their impressive unbeaten run going.
