A GREEN giant from yesteryear made an impressive sight steaming through South East Cornwall on Sunday.
Watched by photographers and crowds of other onlookers, including some on the walkway of the Tamar Bridge, the 1948-vintage, ex-British Railways Southern Region Merchant Navy Class locomotive Clan Line made her first crossing of Brunel’s Royal Albert Bridge before accelerating through Saltash to run at speed through St Germans and Menheniot with The Cornishman special excursion from Bristol to Par. We'll have more on this, with pictures, in this week's new print edition of the Cornish Times, on sale from tomorrow.
