Proceeds for Children's Hospice

THE Callington Colts football club will be hosting their seventh annual James Gubbin Memorial Tournament at Callington Community College on Sunday 10th September. Kick off will be at 10 am with the prizes being awarded at about 5 pm.

James Gubbin was a member of the Callington Colts, who unfortunately died at the age of 14 years from cancer. Each year since then this tournament has been held in his memory.

This year five other teams have been invited to take part. these are Southgate (Launceston), Saltash United, Tamar Valley Thistles (Tavistock), Chaddlewood and Trophy Man (Plymouth). Each club will bring teams in six age groups, under 10 years to under 15 years inclusive. The teams play 11-a-side for 10 minutes each way. Points are then added towards a final club score to find the winners at the end of the day. The Under 15 year team from St Cleer will be taking part to assist the Trophy Man as they do not have an under 15 side.

Part of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Children's Hospice South West. David Morris, the Regional Appeal Co-ordinator said "We are very pleased that Callington Football Club have chosen Little Bridge House as the charity to benefit from this years tournament. We do rely, almost entirely on public support, the Children's Hospice now costs over £1.5 million each year, offering respite and terminal care to the children of the South West".
