Eden Project founder, Sir Tim Smit, is featuring on a new piece of contemporary art by world-renowned artist, David Mach RA, which is being unveiled today in the unlikely setting of a Manchester newsagent’s shop to mark the start of six weeks of celebrations for The National Lottery’s 25th birthday.
The giant collage entitled ’United by Numbers: The National Lottery at 25’ features a mix of famous and lesser-known people, places and icons from the worlds of sport, film, the arts, communities and heritage.
Sir Tim is the driving force behind The Big Lunch – a community initiative part-funded by The National Lottery. The Eden Project and The Big Lunch have received almost £80 million of National Lottery funding.
Other famous faces include Sir John Major, Tracey Emin, Rio Ferdinand, Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson and Betty Webb, a World War Two codebreaker from Bletchley Park.
