THE organising committee of the Liskeard Show has confirmed the rescheduled event will be going ahead next week.

The traditional date in July was cancelled due to heavy rain leading to the show fields at Merrymeet becoming waterlogged.

There had been general worry and concern from various parts of the community that the continuing wet weather since July might again hit the show.

But vice-chairman Colin Dymond said yesterday that committee members had met with the landowner and walked the show fields – and that the show would take place next Saturday, September 8.

'The landowner is happy for the show to go ahead and we took into account the weather forecast which is looking better,' he said. 'Four or five dry days before the show will help a lot.'

Assistant show secretary Jane Pascoe said everyone was looking forward to at last 'getting the show on the road'.
