CORNWALL has been given a ’yellow’ warning of severe weather by the Met Office, which is forecasting heavy rain and strong winds from 1am until 3pm on Wednesday.
The Met Office predicts persistent rain, heavy at times, from the early hours of Wednesday, continuing during the morning before slowly easing in the afternoon.
Some sleet and snow is also likely in places, mainly on higher ground above 300 metres.
Widespread gales, and severe gales in more exposed areas, are expected to develop during the early hours of Wednesday bringing gusts of 50-60 mph to some inland areas and gusts to 70mph to some coastal areas and higher ground.
The weather warning covers Cornwall and large parts of the South West.
