In the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneur of the Award 2017, Cornwall’s Nikki Markham was awarded second place and took home a prize of £6,000 for her social enterprise. 

Nikki Markham is the founder of Battling On in Callington, which supports veterans to reintegrate into civilian life.

The veterans are trained and employed as mentors and instructors to support vulnerable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and adults with disabilities.

The veterans help these individuals develop employment and personal skills.

Nick Hewer, former business advisor to Lord Sugar on BBC’s The Apprentice and presenter of Channel 4’s Countdown, was the host of the Award, with the public voting from a shortlist of five social entrepreneurs on the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Programme.
