An Oscar-winning movie starring a little girl from South East Cornwall will be screened on BBC1 tomorrow evening (March 30).
It will be UK viewers’ first chance to see The Silent Child.
Written and directed by ex-Hollyoaks stars Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton, the 20-minute film tells of a young deaf girl who struggles to communicate until a social worker teaches her how to communicate through sign language.
Maisie Sly, a six-year-old girl who comes from Saltash, plays the title role.
She travelled to Los Angeles earlier this month to attend the Oscars and see her film named Best Live Action Short.
The Silent Child will be shown on BBC One at 7.40pm.
