celebrates

SALTASH Handicapped and Disabled Organisation celebrated its 21st birthday on Wednesday with a party at their headquarters in Plougastel Drive, Saltash. Chairman Elsie Edgecombe cut a birthday cake, and entertainment with poems and songs was given by Ken and Bronwen Speare.

Programmes this year, including a meal at the Ploughboy, have taken in anagrams of wild flowers, a medical quiz, and a bingo session, while Jill Mace of Saltash Health Centre has given a talk on health matters.

The club's annual meeting will be on March 20 at 2pm. All are welcome.

appeal

A REFUSAL by Caradon council of a plan for a site at 2 Fore Street, St Germans, has led to an appeal by Mrs Susan Scott.

The proposal had been to replace windows and a door and carry out stonework and rendering to the front elevation.

The appeal is to be dealt with by the written representation method.

£500 for

Ashtorre

IT was proposed at the last Saltash Partnership meeting that the Ashtorre Centre should receive £500 from the community chest regeneration fund towards new furniture.

Balloons

galore

THE balloon race for the Golden Jubilee celebrations in Saltash, which took place on Saturday was a great success with over 700 balloons released from Fore Street.

The event was opened by Saltash mayor Eve Storey with the prize being a framed painting of the bridges which has been donated by local trader Framers Corner.

The Golden Jubilee celebrations in the town will be on June 3.

On Thursday evening a 50s and 60s dance/disco was held to raise money.

Over 50 stalls

for craft fair

THE twelfth annual Giant Craft Fair will take place at Saltash Wesley church on March 2.

Over 50 stalls will take part and all proceeds made will go to the 'Live at Home' scheme in Saltash. The day starts at 10am.
