The annual challenge match between Liskeard-Looe RFC and Liskeard Football Club – a well-established event on the social calendar – took place during the festive period.

First up was the football match, which saw the Rugby Club fall behind due to a rather harsh penalty decision; the rugby players did not understand the 'pass back' rule – but they soon bounced back, scoring their only goal shortly after.

Unfortunately it went down downhill after that and the Football Club finished up with a winning margin of 7-1.

The team then took to the rugby field to continue the battle. Alex Mackay did his usual refereeing act, trying to give the footballers encouragement and a little advantage with the laws.

But it was soon one way traffic, with the Rugby Club winning 9-0 – that result gave the trophy to the Rugby Club, winning the title overall by three points.

All players enjoyed themselves and it was a good work out before the league games start again after many cancellations due to the snow and ice.
