A presentation of civic prints was made to retiring tree warden Flok de Rijke and retiring town crier Brian Whipp at a meeting of Saltash Town Council.

Flok had been looking after trees in the town on a voluntary basis for several years and Brian was Saltash’s first town crier, covering many events.

He also entered a number of competitions for town criers and gained several awards, one with his late wife Monica, for the best-dressed crier and wife. Monica made a number of their costumes.

Brian is also well known in the town, for dressing as Sir Francis Drake on special occasions.

The presentations were made by councillors Bob Austin and Joe Ellison.
