FUND-RAISERS have quite literally been pulling their weight – and more – for a good cause.

Staff from Steve Wills Haulage in Looe and Dave’s Sheds at Trerulefoot pulled an eight-tonne lorry at the Devon Truck Show.

In a feat of stamina, Dave Glover then pulled the truck on his own.

The show of strength was to support Liskeard couple Joanne and Colin Smith, whose fund-raising in memory of their baby Fred Neale Smith is supporting Derriford Hospital’s Snowdrop Appeal for bereaved families.

The lorry pull has raised £536 in sponsorship, and now Joanne and Colin would like to hear from anyone who could field a truck-pulling team at the Cornwall Truck Show on July 21 and 22.

The couple have had a helping hand from local people and businesses with many aspects of their fund-raising.

‘Thanks go to Steve and Karen Wills who helped with purchasing team T-shirts and fleeces for fund-raising events, to Embroidery by Gemma who designed our logo, to Sam Gerry from Design and Print, and to our sponsors Dave’s Sheds, Steve Wills Haulage, and Brian’s Taxis,’ said Joanne.

‘There are not enough words to explain how we feel, it’s such an emotional time, but we are so amazed by the support that we have.’
