Cornwall has been allocated just over £17million – the second highest allocation in the country – under a Government new homes scheme.

Introduced by the Government to support and reward local communities for new housing development, the New Homes Bonus is based on the number of additional homes, including those brought back into use, added to the council tax register.

In Cornwall 2,785 new homes were delivered last year with 719 of those being affordable homes; the highest amount in the country.
