Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will visit HMS Raleigh today to be the inspecting officer at the passing-out-parade.

The parade marks the completion of initial Naval training for the latest group of recruits. The Princess Royal will inspect the trainees and present prizes to the top students.

Her Royal Highness will also present medals to members of HMS Raleigh’s Ship’s Company recognising long service and good conduct.

Among the passing-out-classes is trainee Air Engineering Technician Kyle Boyd, from Saltash.

Kyle was inspired to become an Air Engineering Technician by his father.

The 20-year-old said: ’My dad has always worked in airports and around aircraft, so I had a general interest in air engineering. I hope to work down at the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose at some point.

’It’s a real privilege to have Princess Anne as our VIP.’
