THE in-house derby between the Marquee B and A saw the lowly A team pull off a brilliant 4-1 win through Alan Ruby, Ali Julian, Chris Hill and Steve Ryan. Roy Saxby was the only winner for the relatively high-flying B team, defeating Richard Lewis 2-1. Despite recording the best result in the Division, the A team sadly remain rooted to the bottom of the table. However, there is still a way to go and the bottom of the table is pretty close!
With J Arthurs D sitting out their bye after losing 2-3 to the Ship Inn Dales two weeks ago, the latter stretch the gap to 9 points on equal games. Last week's lambs were the Noughts A who were unfortunate to record 4 frames to their opponents 8 and find themselves with only 1 point at the end of the night. Highlights of the match were an 8-ball clearance from Jason Bond (on the way to a 2-0 win over Brian Phillips) and Ron Hutley taking a single frame off of Marcus, only the third frame that Marcus has dropped this season.
Results: Legion A 1-4 Ship Inn Dales (4-8); Marquee B 1-4 Marquee A (4-9); Pelynt B 2-3 Noughts A (4-6); Pirates 3-2 Drifters (8-7).
8-Ballers: Jason Bond (Ship Inn Dales) v Brian Phillips (Legion A), Gareth Bailey (Noughts A) v Glen Northcott (Pelynt B), Colin Penhaligan (Pirates) v Paul Woodman (Drifters).

J Arthurs A are on
the up
THE one time bottom team saw a change of fortunes last week as they entertained a depleted Ship Polperro B (four players only) and aome away with a much needed five points.
Shaun Powell was first up, defeating Andrew Butters 2-0, followed by Harry Powell who had a rather more difficult time, eventually defeating John Marshall 2-1. Glen Hall took the next 2-1 over Joe Kidger and that was basically it for the Ship team - no further frames for them as J Arthurs barman Ryan Tedder took out Paul Barley 2-0 and Gary Thomas went through without opposition.
The Bombarders put themselves back in contention for the title with a more than useful win over close contenders, the Legion Foreigners. Playing at the Ship, the Bombarders took full advantage of their home fixture through Barrie Evans, Clive Pearn, Matthew Edwards and Richard Rix. Marcus Hicks replied for the visitors, defeating Brett Pearn 2-0 in the penultimate game and with single frames taken by Chris Gurd, Tony Modesto and Geoff Hicks, the Foreigners were unlucky to come away with the single point.
Not to be outdone, the Sharp-shooters also took four points last week, this time at home to the Jolly. Their win keeps also them in contention, only six points behind the leaders but with one game in hand. With the first five teams so close, the last few games are certainly going to prove interesting.
Results: Bombarders 4-1 Foreigners (8-5); J Arthurs A 5-0 Ship Polperro B (10-2); Lugger 2-3 Bullers AA (2-3); Sharpshooters 4-1 Jolly B (9-4).
8-Baller: Brian Bowdler (Boscarn E) v Chris Powell (Social B).

Close games all round
The four matches played in Division Three, as so many times before, all ended with 3-2 results. The best of these, both in terms of frames and the eventual winners, was the three points gained by Bar One's Top Guns on their visit to Polperro.
James Bull, Andrew Rowe and Andrew Bull took the points, defeating the Noughts B's Paul Hoskin, Cerys Jones and Nick Topham respectively. Matthew Smith and Paul Day replied for the Noughts, defeating Gary Dudley and Scott Mitchell but each conceding a frame.
The Globe Trotters pulled off a surprise win away to the Marquee D, thanks to Richard Coombes, Alan Stevens and Jackie Twiner. The Marquee replied through Francis Tucker and Michael Spencer but with J Arthurs E now five points ahead, may live to rue the result.
At the Boscarn, the E team entertained the Social A and found themselves on the losing end of a 3-2 result. Steve Spree upset the party in the first game, defeating Bill Roberts 2-1. Brian Bowdler took the next 2-0 over Chris Powell, taking an 8-baller into the bargain and levelling the match. The match swung the other way in the third as Mark Powell defeated Anne Bowdler 2-0 and in the fourth, P Carmody levelled the match again with a 2-0 result over Paul Goldthorpe. In the final game, the Social's fresh face, Tim Cole, had little problem defeating Sara Toms to give the visitors the win.
With the two top teams starting to run away with the points, it would appear that the main battle will be for the remaining promotion place. With the third to seventh places separated by only four points and games in hand for the next two teams, things couldn't be closer.
Results: Boscarn E 2-3 Social A (5-6); J Arthurs E 3-2 Strugglers A (6-5); Marquee D 2-3 Globe Trotters (6-7); Noughts B 2-3 Top Guns (5-8).

Waterfront redeem themselves
Two weeks ago, the Waterfront got a little twitchy out at Pelynt, finally winning 3-2 over the bottom placed Village People.
Last week however, the visiting Mill Stones had little chance as the Waterfront swept them aside in their sixth 5-0 win this season. The win takes them a massive 20 points clear and now untouchable by the Globe Walkers or the Mill Stones - that is to say that if the Waterfront gained no further points this season and the Globe Walkers or Mill Stones won every remaining match 5-0, they still couldn't finish above the Waterfront.
The aforementioned Globe Walkers denied Millendreath B a crack at second place as they took home advantage and gained three points. John Graham and Adrian Northcott took the first two games, the latter playing with a broken arm in plaster! Carl Cook salvaged a point for the visitors before Dave Hill made sure of the win by defeating John Baskerville 2-0. Roy Hayward took the final game for the visitors to avoid total humiliation. Where was Richard Powell?
Results: Crumplehorn 3-2 Pilchards (6-5); Gamblers 2-3 Ship Looe D (5-7); Globe Walkers 3-2 Millendreath B (7-5); Rowett 3-2 Village People (6-4); Waterfront 5-0 Mill Stones (10-1).
