Sergeant Colin Taylor has been a policeman for more than 20 years, six of which have been spent patrolling the Isles of Scilly.

Alongside his policing duties Colin runs the Isles of Scilly Police’s official Facebook page and has amassed over 54,000 followers, inviting hundreds of comments and reviews from across the world, entertaining people with his stories of every-day police work, that he claims is ‘like Heartbeat by less frenetic’.

Now his new book, The Life of a Scilly Sergeant (published by Century in June at £12.99) charts Colin’s arrival on the island and his work keeping the streets safe, recalling some of his favourite incidents from his time policing the Islands. From resuscitating goldfish to dealing with drunken anchor thieves; dispersing altercations at the local tavern to implementing highly unpopular traffic laws.
