The town of Liskeard fortunately is law abiding to a great degree and that has to be a compliment to the policing of the town.

There must be, from time to time, difficulties which they experience but I would ask if you could support the police with what they are doing with their limited resources.

The essence, in my view, is that the streets in this town are safe at night and people can feel confident that there is a police presence close at hand as and when necessary.

The Town Council have provided, at a cost of £9,000, additional policing in the town to ensure that the residents should feel a little bit more confident, but the answer lies not in purely and simply an extra constable and special constable paid for by the rate payers of Liskeard. It is appalling that the town itself should have to contribute and subsidise what should be general government funding.

I personally make this comment as I am well aware that the police are doing their best with the limited resources at their disposal, and more funding should be provided and if you feel that it is a matter for concern then you can express your view as appropriate with your local M.P., and, I suggest, a letter of support to Inspector Cox at Liskeard Police Station so that he could endeavour to arrange for more police officers on the beat, because that is an assurance to everybody who lives in the town.
