THE Residents Association of the Pillmere estate has asked Saltash Town Council if the equipment from the estate’s unused play park could be removed and replaced with a woodland-type valley area. At a town council meeting, councillors supported the idea, subject to the granting of planning permission for which they agreed to apply. Councillors also heard from a member of the public, Christine Porter, who raised concerns about speeding in Oaklands Drive. She said it would probably not be practical to ask for ‘sleeping policemen’ to be laid in the road, as it is a main access route to Burraton Primary School, but she suggested that officers should check the situation. Cllr Hillary Frank advised that the road safety committee would be meeting on Monday, July 4, and that she would discuss the issue with the voluntary Speed Watch group. The opening hours and cleaning requirements for the Belle Vue and Longstone Park public toilets were also discussed.
