NEW jobs could be created as a superstore looks to expand its operations.

Morrisons in Liskeard wants to offer deliveries to people who shop online.

Such an operation would see a new storage and distribution building constructed on part of its car park.

Plans for the scheme have been submitted to Cornwall Council.

Liskeard Town Council, which is due to discuss the plan in the New Year, has been told that between 40 and 50 jobs would be created if the scheme goes ahead, some of which would be part-time positions.

Vans would enter and exit the site via the road already used for deliveries to the store.

The store’s planning application says the scheme would enable a local home shopping service to be provided.

Morrisons has said it hopes county planners will support the scheme in light of the ‘advantages of this proposal as well as the overall benefits to the local community’.

Morrisons has previously announced that it was hoping to expand its online shopping service to areas, including the South West, that it didn’t already cover.
