MCDONALD’S, Costa Coffee and Iceland will be coming to Saltash after a major retail park got the go-ahead this week.

Developer Quora is promising 165 long-term jobs at the site, as well as 200 jobs during the construction period.

The retail park on the site of a former car showroom near the Carkeel Roundabout will also have a Home Bargains store.

Quora has pledged an increased contribution of £258,000 in community benefit money to the town centre as well as more than £48,000 towards a sustainable transport network.

Saltash Town Council had objected to the scheme for reasons including the vehicular access to the site and the landscaping.

But the town’s chamber of commerce has offered its support to the project.
