Outline planning permission is being sought for a development of 46 houses in Callington.

The scheme is being put forward by Mr P Cuming for agricultural land at Moss Side, between the A390, Florence Road, and the Moss Side industrial estate.

While the site is adjacent to an Area of Great Historic Value and within an Open Area of Local Significance, it has been previously identified for development, says the agent, Laurence Associates.

The field is close to a former mining area and further surveys may be required to determine ‘the existence and exact position of a lode beneath the south-west corner of the site in close proximity of two shafts (off-site)’, says the application.

A planning meeting of Callington Town Council on Tuesday, June 21, will give residents the chance to find out more about the proposals, and ask questions of the agent.

A representative of Laurence Associates has been invited to attend the meeting and make a presentation, said town clerk Helen Dowdall.
