PLYMOUTH Argyle’s famous mascot Pilgrim Pete is heading through South East Cornwall on a sponsored trek to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.
Good friends Lee Davies and Jamie Fry will be taking on the challenge of a sponsored walk from Little Harbour near St Austell back to Smeaton’s Tower on Plymouth Hoe (approximately 50 miles) following the South West Coastal Footpath.
Lee, who is in his 18th season as the man inside the Pilgrim Pete costume, and ex-Argyle commercial manager Jamie are hoping to complete the walk in aid of the Little Harbour hospice over the weekend of September 16 and 17.
Their friends Lin and Mike Turner, from Stoke in Plymouth, have a 10-year-old grandson Lucas who has severe disabilities and really benefits from Little Harbour.
Lee said: ‘It touched our hearts when we were kindly allowed to visit this amazing charity which cares for children with life-limiting conditions and their whole family. We would be incredibly grateful for any sponsorship as all money received will make a real difference.’
As soon as they arrive back in Plymouth on the evening of September 17 they will be holding a fund-raising event for Little Harbour at the Mount Pleasant Public House with a raffle and auction plus cabaret acts.
